You keep ownership of your content. Connections follow their authorized scope. AI results and agent actions require appropriate oversight.
1. Your agreement with Comet
These Terms govern your use of Comet, including getcometapi.com, app.getcometapi.com, and related services provided by Paulo Gonzalez ("Comet," "we," or "us"). "Customer" means the organization or individual entering into this agreement for business use. "You" includes the Customer and its authorized users, as applicable.
By accepting these Terms or using the service, you agree to them. If you act for an organization, you must have authority to bind it. If you do not agree, do not use the service. A signed agreement with Comet may supplement or replace these Terms as described below.
2. Teams, accounts, and permissions
Comet uses Teams for business use, including single-member Teams. It does not offer a separate Personal workspace. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. You may register with a personal email address; that does not change your Team's structure or authorize access to an employer's information.
Owner, Admin, and Member roles have different permissions. Customers are responsible for assigning roles, maintaining account details, protecting credentials, and managing users they authorize. Report suspected unauthorized access promptly to paulo@getcometapi.com.
A Team name, email domain, organization name, or displayed metadata does not establish verified affiliation or grant access. Access depends on actual permissions and authorized sharing.
3. What the service does
Comet connects model providers and agent applications, including integrations with GrokBot and Codex, and supports permissioned Knowledge, prompts, and skills. Available functions depend on the configuration, connected providers, permissions, and applicable plan.
Companion can process local and cloud-hosted files and use connected tools within the permissions you authorize. Connecting a source does not automatically make everything in it available to every Team member or application. Review the scope of each connection and sharing action.
We may maintain or modify the service. If a change materially reduces contracted functionality, we will work with the Customer on an appropriate resolution under its agreement.
4. Your content and our limited rights
As between you and Comet, you retain ownership of content you provide. You grant us only the rights needed to host, transmit, process, display, and otherwise handle that content to provide the service, carry out authorized instructions, and meet our legal obligations. These rights extend to service providers only as necessary for those purposes and subject to appropriate restrictions.
These Terms do not grant a blanket license to commercialize your content or train general-purpose AI models on it. We will not use Google-sourced data or data derived from it for general-purpose AI model training or enrichment of another customer's data. Processing through a selected external provider remains subject to the integration disclosures and applicable provider terms.
5. Responsible use
You must have the rights and authority necessary to provide content, connect accounts, and instruct Comet or an agent to act. This includes permission to share information with intended users, recipients, applications, and providers. You are responsible for the legality of your instructions and your use of results.
Do not use Comet to violate others' rights, distribute malware, commit fraud, send unlawful or abusive communications, bypass access controls, or interfere with service security. Do not attempt to retrieve another person's content without authorization. Access to a title, name, or other metadata is not permission to retrieve its underlying content.
Do not use Gmail connections to send spam or unsolicited commercial messages, or use multiple connected accounts to evade a provider's limits or abuse controls. Follow the applicable provider's permitted-use rules even where local law is less restrictive.
6. AI results and agent actions
AI-generated content can be inaccurate, incomplete, misleading, or similar to other content. Evaluate results before relying on them, particularly for consequential decisions. Comet does not warrant that generated material is original, exclusive, or free of third-party rights.
Any rights you receive in output depend on applicable law and the relevant model or application provider's terms. Nothing here grants rights that Comet does not possess.
Agents may perform actions through enabled tools. Configure their access carefully and review actions and recipients where appropriate. Do not assume that every action or email send will require a separate human confirmation.
7. Access, sharing, and security
Share Knowledge, prompts, skills, files, and agent context only within the scope you are authorized to share. Team membership alone does not authorize every possible use of connected data.
Comet applies access controls to protected content and can decrypt content for authorized reads and processing. The service is not end-to-end encrypted in a way that prevents Comet from accessing content for those purposes. No system provides an absolute guarantee against unauthorized access or loss.
Revocation and expiration can restrict future access through Comet. They cannot recover copies already downloaded, prevent use of information already viewed, or undo messages already delivered through ordinary email.
8. Google connections and email
Google sign-in and the optional Gmail sending connection serve different purposes. Google sign-in does not by itself authorize Gmail sending or access to every mailbox in your organization. The permissions actually granted determine what the connection may do.
You are responsible for authorizing access to the relevant account and selecting lawful recipients and appropriate content. Review connection settings and revoke access when it is no longer needed.
Secure mail uses generic email notifications with links to content subject to Comet's access controls. Normal email delivers message content through email systems and is subject to those systems' handling and retention. Expiring a Comet link does not recall a normal email or delete a recipient's copy.
9. External services
Connected providers and applications may have their own contracts, limits, data practices, and charges. You must review the terms applicable to services you select. Their availability and behavior may affect Comet features, and Comet cannot promise their continued availability.
A data processing agreement or business associate agreement with Comet applies only within its stated scope. It does not automatically cover external providers or applications. Do not assume that connecting a service makes it suitable for every category of information or regulated workflow.
Do not submit protected health information to a feature unless the required business associate agreement is in place and that feature and its providers are expressly approved for that use. These Terms do not themselves create a business associate agreement or a certification.
10. Privacy and confidentiality
Our Privacy Policy describes how we handle personal information. Any applicable data processing agreement provides additional obligations for the processing it covers.
Each party will protect nonpublic information received from the other with reasonable care, use it only for the agreement's purposes, and limit access to people and service providers who need it and are subject to appropriate confidentiality duties. This obligation excludes information lawfully obtained elsewhere, independently developed, or publicly available without a breach.
A party may disclose information when legally required and, where permitted, will give reasonable notice so the other party can seek protection.
11. Plans and payment
Fees, billing periods, usage limits, payment terms, and any renewal arrangements are those expressly stated in your selected plan or order. A trial, discount, credit, or refund applies only if expressly offered or required by law. These Terms do not create an additional automatic renewal commitment.
You are responsible for agreed charges and any applicable taxes identified in your plan, order, or invoice. Raise a disputed charge promptly with paulo@getcometapi.com so we can investigate. Changes to future charges will be communicated before they apply, subject to your order and applicable law.
12. Suspension, termination, and data requests
We may restrict access when reasonably necessary to address a security threat, unlawful activity, a material breach, or unpaid agreed charges. Where practicable, we will explain the issue and allow a reasonable opportunity to resolve it. Urgent circumstances may require immediate action.
You may stop using Comet and request account closure. Any remaining payment or subscription obligations follow your order and applicable law. Contact paulo@getcometapi.com for available export, access, or deletion assistance. Retention and deletion remain subject to applicable agreements, legal obligations, and the Privacy Policy.
After termination, provisions intended to continue, including accrued payment obligations, confidentiality, liability limits, and dispute terms, survive as applicable.
13. Service commitments and warranties
We will provide the service with reasonable care and skill. Except for express commitments in your agreement and rights that cannot lawfully be excluded, the service and AI results are provided as available, without additional warranties of fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, or uninterrupted or error-free operation.
This section does not override an express service commitment in a signed order or limit mandatory rights under applicable law.
14. Limits on liability
To the extent permitted by law, neither party is liable under this agreement for indirect or consequential loss, or lost profits, arising from use of the service. Each party's total liability arising from this agreement is limited to the greater of the fees paid or payable by the Customer for the service during the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to liability or US$100.
These exclusions and limits do not apply to fraud, willful misconduct, gross negligence, or liability that applicable law does not allow a party to exclude or limit. They do not remove the Customer's obligation to pay agreed fees.
15. Changes, governing terms, and contact
We may update these Terms and will give reasonable notice of material changes. Changes apply prospectively from the stated effective date, subject to your signed agreement and applicable law.
The agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, and disputes are subject to State of Delaware courts, except where mandatory law requires otherwise. Rights that cannot lawfully be waived remain intact.
A signed agreement or order takes precedence over conflicting provisions of these Terms. An applicable data processing agreement or business associate agreement controls within its expressly stated subject matter and scope. If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply.
